Listening Part 1 (questions 1–10). A father phones a sports centre to enrol his daughter in a swimming course. Recording: Receptionist: Good morning, Riverside Sports Centre. How can I help? Man: Hi. I'd like to enrol my daughter in your swimming course for the summer. Receptionist: Of course. Can I take her name? Man: It's Amara Okafor — that's O-K-A-F-O-R. Receptionist: And how old is she? Man: She turned nine last month. Receptionist: Then she'd join the Junior B group, which is for children aged eight to ten. Junior A is for younger children. Man: Fine. When are the classes? Receptionist: Junior B meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There's a morning class at half past nine and an afternoon class at four o'clock. Man: The afternoon would be better — she has music lessons in the mornings. Receptionist: Right. The course runs for six weeks, starting on the fourteenth of July. Man: And how much is it? Receptionist: It's eighty-five pounds for the six weeks, but members of the centre pay sixty. Man: We're not members, although my wife is thinking of joining the gym. Receptionist: If she joins before the course starts, you'd get the member price. Man: Good to know. Does Amara need to bring anything? Receptionist: Just a swimming costume and a towel. We provide goggles, but she's welcome to bring her own. Oh — and long hair must be tied back or covered with a swimming cap. Man: She has long hair, so we'll buy a cap. Where should we go on the first day? Receptionist: Come to the main reception ten minutes early, and an instructor will take the children to the small pool. The large pool is used for adult lessons at that time. Man: Lovely. Can I pay now by card? Receptionist: Yes. I'll just need a phone number in case we have to contact you. Question: How old is Amara?
