Accounting Concepts Under IFRS
Going concern, matching, prudence and materiality.
The going concern concept assumes that a business will continue to operate for the foreseeable future. This means that the financial statements are prepared under the assumption that the company will not be liquidated or forced to close down in the near term.
The matching principle requires that expenses be recognized in the same period as the revenues they help to generate. This ensures that financial statements reflect the true profitability of a business during a specific period.
